We all want to have a beautiful and attractive appearance, but in order to achieve this perfection, we must first take care of our facial skin. One of the most common problems is skin oiliness. Many people find it difficult to fight excessive oiliness, and this can affect their self-confidence. Here are some tips that will help you in the fight against oily skin.
Cleansing
We advise you to avoid lotions containing alcohol. Alcohol-based products can cause your skin to immediately start replenishing the removed oils, producing even more excess oil. When washing your face, choose lukewarm water at a temperature of around 15–18°C. This helps tighten the pores and benefits oily skin. Do not use regular toilet soap. Instead, opt for mild cleansers such as gels or foams. Make sure the products you buy are free of alkalis and have a pH of no more than 4.5. Look for gels and foams specifically formulated for oily skin that include antibacterial ingredients and essential natural oils. An important step in cleansing oily and problematic skin is hydrophilic oil. This oil-based product is very effective in controlling oiliness.
Face Wash
The hygiene routine for oily skin differs from that of other skin types. If you think you can get rid of excess oil simply by washing your face more often, you are mistaken. While frequent washing may temporarily reduce shine, it can create long-term problems and make the situation worse. Excessive washing triggers a counter-effect, where the sebaceous glands produce more oil to compensate for what has been removed. This leads to even more sebum secretion. The skin should be cleansed carefully, especially at night.
Hydration
If you believe that oily skin doesn’t need hydration and you’ve been skipping moisturizers for this reason, think again! This is one of the biggest misconceptions about oily skin. The skin’s surface often becomes flaky, which can even cause dermatitis. For this reason, it is necessary to use a lightweight, matte moisturizer formulated specifically for oily skin.
Products with Zinc
Zinc plays a crucial role in the body, contributing to overall health, immune function, and wound healing. Did you know that zinc is one of the most common minerals in skincare products? Zinc reduces the bacteria that cause acne, suppresses skin inflammation, and limits the overproduction of skin cells that lead to blackheads. Additionally, zinc helps remove excess sebum, unclogs pores, and reduces redness. Given these benefits, we strongly recommend using skincare products that contain zinc.
Suitable Makeup Products
Since oily skin often has large pores, we do not recommend using compact (stone) powders, as these can clog the pores and eventually cause breakouts. Instead, choose powders specifically designed for oily skin. These products provide a long-lasting matte effect and leave the skin feeling smooth, silky, and soft. The best options contain natural sediments that effectively absorb dirt and sebum.
It is also important to use matte-based makeup products to control the shine caused by excess oil.
Sunscreen
Many women with oily skin avoid sunscreen, fearing that it will feel greasy or clog their pores. However, skipping sunscreen exposes your skin to harmful UV rays, which can cause sun spots, freckles, and premature aging. To avoid these issues, choose a lightweight, non-greasy sunscreen specifically formulated for oily skin.
Hopefully, these tips will make it easier for you to manage problematic and oily skin effectively. By following these steps, you can maintain a healthy, clear, and radiant complexion.
